History of the Caribbean Maritime Mobile Net

The Caribbean Maritime Mobile Net is an amateur radio net which was formed in the early '80s and operated by Bernie Mogul, J6LDZ on St. Lucia, West Indies. Circumstances arose which caused Bernie to give up the Net operation, and this was assumed by Lou, KV4JC of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. Early on in this newer operation, Lou was assisted by Pat Miller, KP2J of St. Thomas and later on by Bruce Goble, KP4UB on Culebra, PR.

Les Miller, N5NG, who lives aboard his yacht in Culebra, is now the regular relief controller. On Sundays John Ellis, NP2B, of St. Croix, takes on net control duties with assistance from Les. The Net continues to provide daily communications for cruising yachts all over the Caribbean, Southwest North Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico, with Lou, KV4JC as primary Net Control and Manager.
